Mid-19th Century Diamond Brooch

About the Item

A mid-19th Century diamond brooch, designed as a miniature corsage ornament, with entwined scrolled leaves, suspending four foliate drops, all set throughout with old brilliant- and oval mixed-cut diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of 4.5 carats, all set in silver to a yellow gold mount, the drop diamonds set in cut-down silver collets, circa 1850, measuring approximately 5x3.5cm, gross weight 13 grams. This antique brooch is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 9ct gold and silver, with 18ct gold later pin and catch. This beautiful diamond brooch comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. It was made in the mid-nineteenth century and features a motif of intertwined leaves with foliate drops. All the details are set throughout with a total of four and a half carats of dazzling old-cut diamonds. This sparkling and romantic piece recalls the look of a floral corsage and would look gorgeous pinned to the front of an evening gown. Should you choose to make this purchase we will delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
