Nordic 1940s Sterling Vermeil Large Bow Brooch
About the Item
A wonderful sterling silver 1940s large brooch by Nordic Silver Co. Inc. of New York. The brooch is a lovely vintage design of wrapped and looped ribbon in gold on sterling silver vermeil. The center has four vertically set purple faceted crystal baguettes 4 x 8 mm and accented with tiny rhinestone above and below. The brooch is 1.75 inches wide, 3.75 inches long and .5 of an inch deep. The back and bottom is stamped Sterling and Nordic.
The use of sterling silver instead of a base metal for the brooch dates this piece as manufactured between 1942 and 1947 by the Nordic Silver Co Inc.,of New York NY. Little is know about the company except that their jewelry was beautifully crafted and of high quality.
