About "Passerby" series:
For the series of jewelry works/fashion accessories “Passerby”, Dongyi Wu focuses on impressions on streets, and transfers these quick images into jewelry pieces that can be worn. “Passerby” aims to capture the moments Dongyi observes people who walk next to her on streets, or people that are pictured in the photos inside fashion magazines. The inspiration for “Passerby5” comes from a young man who wore a mosaic suit, huge sneakers, and a cap with blue color on the street. He looked a little shy but wearing a high-fashion style. Dongyi wants to express the contradiction between his personality and self-expression through wearable works. Blue is a color that can seem conservative and traditional, which is usually associated with peace, relaxation, and order, but it was applied to the pieces with an energetic and fashionable style, which reproduced the personal style of the young man.

Dongyi Wu
Dongyi Wu is a contemporary jewelry artist with her studio located in Gatlinburg, TN, United States. Inspired by fashion magazines, literature works, visual arts, and her own experiences, Dongyi Wu creates jewelry pieces with her unique and expressive language while making them wearable and well crafted. By introducing various materials into her jewelry pieces, Dongyi Wu is devoted to creating statement necklaces, earrings, and brooches that can bring fresh experiences to her customers. Her current research is to reshape quick impressions in life into fashionable, lightweight, and eye-catching jewelry works. Dongyi Wu is an award-winning jewelry artist who was the winner of the Preziosa Young Design Competition 2020 in Florence, Italy, the Finalist of the Leap Award 2019/20 in Pittsburgh, US, and the Finalist of the ENJOIA'T 2017 Contemporary Jewellery Award in Barcelona, Spain. Her jewelry works have been featured in numerous publications, including New Brooches and Chinese Contemporary Jewelry Design.
