Large Philip Hulitar Jeweled Crystal Brooch from the 1950's. Pieces by this couturier are rare.
Emerald and sapphire crystals are set in a large domed shape for maximum impact.
Signed. 2.75" x 2.5"
After a long design stint at Bergdorf Goodman, Hulitar introduced his own line in 1949. He possessed those powers of perseverance which success in any profession requires. In the end, he achieved what matters most in fashion: he created beauty. Philip Hulitar, born in 1905, was the son of a Hungarian diplomat father and a mother born of Italian nobility, as a boy he attended the Paris fashion shows with his mother and began sketching fashion...He was the head designer of women's evening wear at Bergdorf Goodman for 18 years and in 1949 opened his own design business...His designs are classic and timeless.
