Victorian 6.00 Carat Diamond, Pearl and Ruby Oyster Shell Brooch, circa 1880s
About the Item
A fascinating oyster shell brooch featuring an assortment of diamonds, rubies and a single large natural pearl in the centre. The diamonds are a combination of old cuts and rose cuts and have been estimated H-I in colour and VS in clarity. The old cut diamonds total to 6.00 carats whereas the rose cut diamonds total to approximately 0.70 carats. They are set in rows which alternate with rubies that are set slightly behind, gently peeking through. The rubies total to 0.60 carats. In the centre sits the large natural pearl which measures 10.30mm and just beneath in a curling motion, are small rows of blue enamelling that alternate with the rose cut diamonds. The brooch dates back to the Victorian era, c.1880s and has been entirely hand crafted in 18ct yellow gold. It comes with the original fitted box.
