Victorian Garnet, Diamond and Ruby Bug Brooch, circa 1870
About the Item
This stunning and handcrafted brooch is shaped in the design of a fly, featuring the wings as half moon, cabochon cut garnets. They have a total weight of 2.00 carat and are supported by little rose cut diamonds. They have a combined weight of 0.10 carat and are expertly set. The finesse is highlighted by the little cabochon cut rubies, weighing 0.02 carat, which feature as eyes. It is crafted from 18 carat rose gold, whilst the diamonds are set within silver, typical of the Victorian era. It's a wonderful and playful piece which would make the ideal gift.
