A stunning, fine and impressive plique-a-jour, 0.60 carat sapphire and 0.23 carat diamond, 18k carat yellow gold bug brooch; part of our diverse antique jewellery and estate jewelry collections. This fine and impressive vintage brooch has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold with an 18k white gold setting. The brooch has been modelled in the form of a winged insect. The insect's wings are composed of yellow gold frames accented with a spectrum of impressive plique-à-jour* panels. The creature's rounded thorax is further ornamented with red plique-a-jour panels. The insect's abdomen is embellished with an impressive 18k white gold setting accented with thirteen eight cut diamonds. The head features an impressive three-claw set 0.60ct pear faceted blue sapphire, replicating the insect's eye. NOTE: * Plique-à-jour is a vitreous enamelling technique similar in technical execution to cloisonné, where the enamel is applied to defined 'cells' within a metal filigree. With plique-à-jour, there is no backing to the design, allowing light to pass through the enamelwork, suggestive of stained glass. Plique-a-jour is derived from the French 'braid letting in daylight'. Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone. Condition This impressive vintage bug brooch...
