A porcelain brooch designed by Johan Gerard van Loon for Rosenthal. This is a very unusual sculptural brooch, designed by the Dutch artist Johan Gerard Van Loon and produced by the German porcelain company of Rosenthal, back in the 1970's. The beautiful abstract piece of art is made of white glazed porcelain and accented in three matte colors of polychrome metallic such; gold, blue, purple and orange. This is a lovely Rosenthal collector's piece no longer available at the Rosenthal retailers. It is a unique conversation piece to compliment any ensemble. Weight: 10.95 Grams, (7.05 Dwt). Measurements: 44 mm by 46 mm (1.73 x 1.81 Inches). Hallmarks Marked with the maker's mark and signed, as follow; "ROSENTHAL STUDIO LINE GERMANY JOHAN VAN LOON". Johan Van Loon Johan Gerard van Loon born in Rotterdam in 29 October 1934. He was a Dutch ceramist and textile artist. Van Loon studied textile design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie from 1952 to 1956, and from 1957 to 1960 at the Konstfack in Stockholm under Stig Lindberg. In 1958 he took pottery classes from the Amsterdam potter Jos Eppens van Veen, ] in 1960 from Thera Hofstede Crull, and in 1961 at the Camberwell College of Arts in London under Lucie Rie. In 1960 he took another study tour to Scandinavia and worked with Kylikki Salmenhaara for the Arabia porcelain factory in Finland.
