Victorian Day and Night Earrings with natural emeralds and rose cut diamonds! Originally termed as "Day and Night earrings" because during the day they were worn as the smaller upper part of the earrings only. At night, the wearer would add on the larger dangle and be ready for an evening gala event. Today, the complete earring could be worn day or night.
Made with 14 karat gold backs and silver fronts with natural emeralds and rose cut diamonds. The round and pear shaped, well matched natural emeralds are gold backed and gold pronged. The multiple gold prongs add an interesting design element as well as safely holding the beautiful emeralds. The rose cut diamonds are not foil backed.
There are no hallmarks on the earrings. All stones are present and look to be original because of consistent color and shape. The French ear wires are sturdy and the clasps are in good condition. The general condition of the earrings is excellent.
Measurements with Descriptions:
"Night earrings" (complete earring including bottom portion) measure 1 3/4" long including the ear wires that show in the front. The widest part of the earrings measure 1". The lower part of the earring has desirable movement for eye appeal.
"Day earrings" (top section only) are round faceted emeralds surrounded with rose cut diamonds. The length is 7/8" and the widest part measures just under 1/2". The length measurement includes any ear wire that shows in the front.
Appraisal Reads:
ITEM 1: ONE (1) PAIR OF SILVER TOPPED GOLD VICTORIAN EARRINGS:
One (1) pair of silver topped fourteen karat rose gold emerald and diamond Victorian earrings. Set at the top are two (2) round faceted emeralds, measuring 4.1 mm, weighing approximately 0.50 carat combined total weight; and set in the drop, are two (2) pear-shaped faceted emeralds, measuring 8.0 x 4.6 mm, weighing approximately 1.50 carat combined total weight. Set around the emeralds are thirty-four (34) rose cut diamonds, measuring 2.2 – 2.4 mm, weighing approximately 1.02 carat combined total weight with I-J-K color and VS-SI clarity.
The earrings have gold lever hooks, measure 1-3/4 inches long, and weigh 13.7 grams.

Total Weight of Emeralds: 2.00 carats
