14 Karat Lorgnette Folding Eyeglasses with Gold, Diamond and Seed Pearls Lariat
About the Item
Gorgeous Art Deco 14 karat yellow gold lorgnette folding spectacles or antique reading glasses with round lenses from the 1920s feature an elaborately filigreed handle to hold them to the eyes. When folded, the lorgnette becomes a monocle or magnifying glass. Includes a period correct, 12 karat yellow gold, flat, double twist lariat, decorated with 24 seed pearls, old mine cut diamond and black enamel circular medallion.
Lorgnette is in excellent antique condition, with the latch which opens and closes the eye glasses still strong and crisp, and all the moving parts working smoothly and easily. The frames are round and unbent, with minor scratching to the lenses. The frames are delicately etched, 14 karat yellow gold filigree.
Lorgnette is halmarked, "D 14K" on the underside of the nose bridge. Lariat is hallmarked, "12k" on the ring clasp.
Lorgnette frames (eyeglass to eyeglass) measures 4" long by 9/16" wide. Diameter of round frames is 9/16". Length of handle is 2 1/4". Length of lariat from clip to end of pearl medallion is 6 1/2". Length of necklace portion of lariat is 24". Width of chain is 1/4".
