Silver and Enamel Necklace, Ramsden & Carr, 1904
About the Item
An Arts and Crafts ornamental sterling silver necklace by Ramsden & Carr. The necklace is designed as two intertwined mythical sea creatures encircling a central blue and green enamel plaque, on silver twisted-link chain, and a shield-shaped silver and enamel back section, in an entwined branch frame.
The necklace is hallmarked with the Ramsden & Carr makers mark, London, 1904.
Engraving: - None.
Maker: - Omar Ramsden (1873–1939) & Alwyn Carr (1872-1940).
Measurement: - The pendant to the front measures approximately 3.8cm (length) x 3.8cm (height) x 0.7cm (depth). The enamel panel back section measures 4.7cm (length) x 2.2cm (height). The chain measures 44.3cm (17 3/8 inches) from end to end. (1 inch = 25.4 mm)
Weight: - 34.4 grams.
Condition: - The necklace is in good antique condition. Minor surface wear, and tarnishing commensurate with age. The enamel displays minimal wear. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
