Jean Mahie 1970 Paris Sculptural Collar Necklace In Solid 22Kt Yellow Gold

Sculptural crucifix designed by Jean Mahie. A beautiful piece of wearable art, created in Paris France by the artist, sculptor and goldsmith Jean Mahie, back in the late 1970's. This rare vintage sculptural cross pendant was carefully crafted in solid rich yellow gold of 22 karats with all the surfaces finished with textured, chiseled and hammered patterns. It is a very interesting piece created from two elements of abstract forms, which are attached together with four ribbets. This solid gold pendant is an impressive and lends a big, bold, gold look on your chain. Weight: Has a total weight of 57.95 grams (37.15 Dwt). Measurements: 64 mm by 90 mm (2.52 x 3.60 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks, the eagle's head for the assay and warranty of the 22kt gold, the maker's maitre mark JM associated to Jean Mahie in a lozange cartouche, the serial numbers and Signed in full on the bottom, "JEAN MAHIE 22KT JM 5649NM". Jean Mahie, is the result of a wonderfully symbiotic and fruitful partnership between Jacline Mazard and her father-in-law Jean-Marie Mazard. They first began combining their artistic talents in 1969, working from a studio in Mouans-Sartoux in the South of France, and launched their jewellery line the following year. Neither was formally trained and both preferred to work with 22ct gold in order to realise their unique style that embodied primitive form, motifs and techniques. Everything they made was entirely hand crafted with Jacline often drawing inspiration from her memories of growing up near the ancient ruins of Carthage in Tunisia. This little sculpture has been crafted in solid rich yellow gold of 22 karats with the surface finished with textured and hammered patterns. Has a total weight of 12.95 grams and the actual size is 6.75 sizable. The top view measurements are 32 mm by 19 mm (1.26 x 0.75 Inches). Stamped, with the maker's mark, the hallmark for the assay of the gold and signed, "JM 22Kt.".
