- Letter C Pendant - c. 1855 - 15k yellow gold, enamel, diamond, pearl, hair - Made in England This wonderful little find is a rare treasure in so many ways: the crisp modernity of its brilliantly styled monogram; the magnificence of its hand-engraving; the interest of its lettering; the unusual hair art, which so rarely survives; its unprecedented pristine condition; its age; its perfect fusing of Victorian ornateness with modern simplicity. Richly constructed in solid 15k yellow gold, both inside and out, this beautiful piece is ornamented with a flawless robin's egg blue enamel frontiscpiece set with a rose-cut diamond accented letter C. The back panel is elaborately hand-engraved in a lush scrolling pattern, engraved "Cecil, Dec. 18th, 1855." The closing mechanism is an understated masterpiece, with a tiny little hinge and thumbhold blending into the scrolling most beautifully. This piece was masterfully crafted. The interior houses an original glass frame over a pearl-and-gold accented hair art memento. The other side has further engraving, reading "Reginald Peter, born Jan 18th 1852" and "Beatrice Margaret, born July 20 1846". We absolutely love this beautiful old blue treasure for the bride with a C close to her heart. SIZING - Length: 1 1/8" / 2.85 cm, including bail - Width: .75" / 1.9 cm CONDITION Pristine antique. All original components present, including all original stones and the original gold, pearl, and hair mourning memento. Almost no wear is present; this piece is in incredible condition.
