Ancient Roman 1st Century Bce Julius Caesar Coin 18k Gold Pendant

About the Item

An authentic silver "denarius" coin from 49-48 BCE portrays an elephant trampling a serpent on one of the few coins that bears the name "CAESAR" minted by the Roman general Julius Caesar. The elephant on this coin is a powerful symbol of victory and military might. It was a known tactic in ancient warfare to use elephants, which were the largest and strongest animals known to the Romans. Caesar himself famously used elephants in his campaigns. This elephant may symbolize Caesar's Gallic campaign against Ariovistus in the battle of Vosges in 58 BCE. The coin may have been intended to promote Caesar's image as a military leader and to inspire loyalty and support among his troops and allies. The reverse features a group of religious symbols: a culullus, aspergillum, an axe decorated with animal imagery, and an apex. This rare and sought after ancient coin is set within a Steven Battelle designed "Doubled Jawan" handmade granulated 18K gold setting. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”, 20”, and 24” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Historic!

An interesting, authentic, silver denarius coin from the period of the Roman Republic in 79 BCE, featuring a griffin leaping, is set in a Steven Battelle ancient inspired handmade matte-finish textured bezel mount with 1.8mm VS1 diamond accent. The denarius was approximately the daily wage of a soldier in ancient Rome. This particular type of coin is known as a denarius serratus. The ragged edges of the coin are intentional (all coins of this type have them) to show that coin is pure silver. The minting of the coins was an annual office shared by 3 men, and they often placed the family name on the coins. This coin was minted by moneyer L. Papius, who was probably from Lanuvium, which was about 19 miles outside of Rome. The reverse side of the coin displays...
