About the Item
A beautiful antique Victorian era Whitby Jet pendant.
This is a large teardrop shaped pendant with a mounted plaque of carved fleur-de-lis to the front and an integral jet bale.
It has a gorgeous Greek key design around the outer rim.
It is highly detailed, a very pretty piece.
Whilst Whitby Jet was a popular choice for mourning jewellery it was also used for other jewellery as the rich black fossilised material became popular in general in the late Victorian era.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some surface wear and light scratches.
