Early Navajo Indian Sterling Silver Large Sandcast Cross Pendant for Necklace
About the Item
Outstanding and large early Navajo Indian sandcast cross pendant from the estate of a collector of unusual Native American silver. The front contains warm natural patina, and is smooth to the touch from years of handling and good construction. The rear is unfinished, retaining the original textured grain created when the molten silver was poured over the packed-sand mold. This is not unusual for such an early example, and provides historical context and character to the piece.
The rear contains a sterling mark and a stylized letter "F" hallmark. The letter has a slight double stamp with nice rounded edges, which may assist in identifying the artist. The bail is a handcrafted curl-over with a large opening that could easily accommodate your favorite chain. Overall very good condition, with no dents, cracks or repairs. This is an excellent and historical piece of Native American jewelry.
