Early Victorian Topaz and Gold Repousse Suite
About the Item
An early Victorian topaz and gold repousse suite, the necklace consisting of nine graduating from the centre oval faceted topazes, set on gold collets with repousse-work decorations, suspended by seven rows of gold trace chain, to a topaz-set clasp, with detachable cross pendant set with ten oval faceted topazes and a pair of drop earrings each set with three oval topazes, all set within matching gold repousse work, circa 1840, the necklace measuring approximately 41.5 x 2cm, the cross pendant measuring approximately 7.9 x 5.6cm, and the earrings measuring approximately 5.4 x 1.7cm, gross weight 100 grams.
A beautiful early Victorian suite. This demi parure features a pair of earrings and a matching necklace, each entirely set with wonderful, faceted honey-hued topaz stones. The topaz is set to intricate yellow gold collets, which complement the topaz beautifully. This gorgeous set comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and exemplifies the grandeur of early Victorian style. It would look stunning paired with an evening gown.
