About the Item

A Victorian neo-gothic pendant with a Griffin. Beautiful pendant created in England in the late 19th century, circa 1885. Designed with late Victorian neo-gothics motifs mixed with a hint of art nouveau. This pendant depicts the three dimensional figure of a winged Griffin facing to the right. It is crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with chiseled, engraved and incused details to recreate all the details of this mythological animal. The most interesting thing in this piece happen in the back part. The reverse of the piece is completely engraved with incisions as a mirrored image of the obverse showing us again the image of the Griffin in a plain base. Fitted on top with a bale ring to hang into a chain or bracelet Diamond: Mounted in a bezel setting, with 1 antique European rose cut diamond, 0.10 carat, white colorless F color, VS/SI clarity. Weight: 9.65 Grams, (9.96 Dwt). Measurements: 33 mm by 31 mm (1.30 x 1.22 Inches). Hallmarks: No marks, tested for 18 karats gold, .750/,999 Au.
