GILIN Natural Green Jadeite Jade 'La-jiao' Diamond Pendant
About the Item
Natural Jadeite, is known as 'heavenly' and 'imperial' in the Chinese culture. Different shapes have different morals behind their carvings. Chinese people believed Jadeite brings good luck, good health or protection to the wearer.
This 9.76 carat 'La-jiao' shape (meaning chili / hot pepper) natural green jadeite jade is originated from Myanmar (Burma), sets with 7 pieces of 0.05 carat of natural round brilliant diamonds in 18K white gold. It's size is also suitable for teenagers.

There are 4 morals behind a 'la-jiao' jadeite:
1. Happy / Cheerful family - Chili is red in colour, and red in China represents good luck, passionate and festive. Festivals bring family members together with joy and so it means the wearer will have a happy and cheerful family.
2. Making friends - The word 'jiao' has the same pronunciation as making friends in chinese meaning 'jiao peng you'. So people believed that it will bring you luck in making good new friends who will support you on your career and through difficulties.
3. Good wealth / Prosperity - As much of the world may know, China's official language is Mandarin. But in the Guongdong area 90% of its population speaks Cantonese. 'La-jiao' becomes 'lat-jiu'. There's a vocab in Cantonese called 'jiu choi', meaning good money come. So taking out the 'jiu' pronunciation of the both, the chili jadeite simply becomes 'good wealth' to Cantonese people.
4. Lively - same concept of point 3. "Jiu hei bood bood" means lively. Traditional Cantonese think lively and good health are no separation so they believed that chili jadeite will also bring good health to the wearer.
