Gubelin 1920 Art Deco Necklace Enameled Watch In Platinum With European Diamonds

About the Item

Convertible necklace pendant clock, designed by Gübelin. Very rare pendant watch necklace, created in Switzerland during the art deco period by Eduard Jakob Gübelin for Gübelin & Co., back in the 1925. It was carefully crafted with geometric patterns in solid platinum and composed by three parts, the upper part with a hinged bar to wear as a brooch, the middle transitional divider, which is decorated with diamonds and the pendant watch case. The piece is embellished with five natural white pearls, sixty-four natural earth mined diamonds and is fitted with a diamond's station chain with a security lock. The watch case is decorated on both sides with applications of black enamel and a geometric monogram which is accented with more rose cut diamonds. Movement: Oval, mechanical and hand winding, stamped Seventeen (17) Jewels and Three (3) adjustments Ref: 40892 E. GUBELIN C.T. SWISS. Dial: Rectangular, silvered with black Arabic numbers and steel black hands. Diamonds: Mounted in Millegan settings, with 54 European round cut diamonds, 1.08 carats, white colorless F color, VS-2 clarity. Diamond: Mount in a bezel setting, with 1 step faceted cut baguette diamond, 0.10 carats, white colorless F/g color, VS-2 clarity. Diamond: The station's chain is mount in bezel settings, with 10 European round cut diamond, 1.02 carats, white colorless F color, VS-2 clarity. Pearls: Accented with 5 natural round white pearls; one of 4mm and four of 3mm. Weight: 24.3 Grams, (15.60 Dwt). Size: The length of the diamond's station chain is 19 Inches, (48 Cm). Measurements: 51 mm by 26 mm (2.0 x 1.02 Inches). Hallmarks Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the platinum, the reference numbers and signed, "E. GUBELIN SWISS 40892". Gubelin The company was founded in 1854 when Mauritz Breitschmid opened a watchmaker's shop on the Pfistergasse in Lucerne. a few years later, in 1861, Eduard Jakob Gübelin was born in eastern Switzerland. he subsequently moved to Lucerne and was apprenticed to the watchmaker Mauritz Breitschmid. The year 1886 marked a special occasion in the young watchmaker's life as Eduard Jakob Gübelin married bertha Sophia Breitschmid, the daughter of his old master. In the same year, the two men became business partners, managing the growing company together. In the 1920s Gübelin opened its own jewelry atelier and at the same time set up a small gemological laboratory so that it could test -and be sure of the authenticity- of the stones its jewelers used. It also continued making and repairing fine watches for a discerning clientele, developing a reputation that soon reached throughout Europe and overseas. Since 1854, the house of Gübelin has always been in the hands of the family and led by a family member throughout time the Gübelin family carefully nurtured its traditions. It kept the company’s core values alive and passed them on to the next generation which contributed to the success and growth of the Swiss house. Note: This type of jewelry created by the house of Gubelin, are very special pieces, one of a kind and unique with individual serial numbers and part of the company's next level private collection. Collateral: This piece is accompanied by a certificate appraisal prepared by a Gia certified gemologist. The certificate state the full description of this piece of jewelry and the exact information for the diamonds. Condition: The overall condition of this necklace clock is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the platinum. All gemstones are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and the authenticity.
