Opal Ruby Strawberry Pinecone Locket Pendant Necklace Enamel Gold MidCentury 3"
About the Item
This is a wonderful and very rare antique Opal and Ruby Strawberry or Pinecone motif Pendant Locket in a wonderful large size of almost 3 inches. The magnificent jewel is set throughout with cabochon opals. The gorgeous opals have blue, green and yellow fire. Each opal is set "a jour", open backed, to let the light through and give the jewel a stained glass window effect. Around the top of the strawberry are Ruby set leaves. The 48 Rubies are circular-cut and of a beautiful red color. The locket bail is adorned with black enamel. The gold is 10 Karat pink gold.
The locket is a Retro Mid-Century Modern jewel dating to circa 1940-1980.
The locket is 2 7/8 inches (7.5 cm) long including the bail. Without the bale the locket is 2 3/8 inches tall. The locket is 1 1/4 inches wide. It is 1 inch deep.
The interior locket portion is 1 5/8 inches tall and 1 inch wide.
The locket weighs 35.3 grams.
