Russian Imperial-era Silver Empress Maria Pendant Medallion, circa 1890
About the Item
Beautiful solid silver medallion mounted as a pendant from the Romanov era, period of Alexander III, on one side is a portrait bust of Empress Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928), wife of the Russian Tsar. The other side depicts a figure standing with objects at feet symbolizing Learning. Inscription in Cyrillic reads: “Her Majesty Maria Feodorovna for Good Conduct and Success in Science”, signed V. Nikon R. in Cyrillic, attached to a link chain with silver lobster clasp.
