Yaraka Boulder Opal Drop Pendant with Diamond Box Bale on Gold Wire Collar
About the Item
This one-of-a-kind choker features a great new bale design by Eytan Brandes. Here, his box bale shares the stage with a knockout boulder opal from Broken River Mining in Australia.
The 18 karat gold bale is pavé-set on three sides with forty-four earth-mined natural and untreated white diamonds -- a total diamond weight of 0.49 carats. These are tiny but high-quality stones with plenty of sparkle; our supplier rates them G-H color and VS clarity.
The opal, mounted in an 18 karat gold bezel, comes from the Yaraka mine, located in the middle of nowheresville, Australia, but producer of some very distinctive opals -- those blond/creamy patches you see on our opal are Yaraka trademarks. The right side of the opal features a swath of brilliant green and blue that suggest to us the foreground of Van Gogh's Starry Night over the Rhone.
For the chain, we modified a simple but substantial 1.5mm neck wire of solid 14 karat gold. The closure is a hook-in-hook. The hole in the pendant's bale is very small so while the bale is not fixed on the chain (i.e., it can slide back and forth along the wire) it can not be removed from the wire.*
