Set of Two Extra Long Victorian Milk Glass Teardrop Hat Pins with Crystals, 1900

About the Item

A necessity during the Victorian Era, hat pins not only balanced precarious hats atop piles of hair but also moonlighted as weapons against overzealous gentlemen. Though teetering hats are no longer de rigeur, glorious century-plus-old pins such as these can be pierced through modern hats as statement accessories or even arranged in vases like flowers. This extraordinary set combines translucent milk glass teardrops shouldered by five faceted crystals atop a silver stem to create a suite worthy of standing on its own. Set of two 9 ¼” hat pins with silver stems; milk glass teardrop finials atop a cluster of five clear faceted crystals. material: silver, milk glass, crystals noteworthy: gently clean with damp cloth repairs: none condition: very good with light tarnish on stems measurements: length: 8 ½” (stem), 1” (finial) finial diameter: 3/8” signature: no signature present
