Magnificent Vanity Box depicting a sphinx figure with Diamonds.
At the start of the 20th century, Europe was fascinated by the great Egyptian excavations. Egyptian culture was captivating and alien. No surprise that the sphinx depiction found its way into the vanity items. Silver.
This fine box opens like an envelope to reveal a detachable pomade tip and a separate covered compartment for the powder. While these are not used in cosmetic care anymore the box remains the perfect example of the roaring 20es it’s style and elegance. Wonderfully beautiful museum item.
The condition of the box is good, with only minor signs of use, totally understandable for such an old item. Please take a look at the video.
A true future classic, its value will be sure to rise as time goes by. It is a perfect item both for a fine jewelry collection and to be worn for special occasions. This fine box demands a special outfit and a sense of occasion.
