About the Item
A superb Victorian - Belle Epoque deeply carved Coral Cameo Ring depicting a nude woman with absolutely magnificent detail and artisanship in a beautiful and elegant Etruscan Revival setting in 14 Karat Gold. The ring dates to circa 1850-1880. The coral is between red and a salmon color - a stunningly beautiful color! The ring features the most beautifully carved high relief coral cameo of a nude woman. The face is exquisite with an angelic cherubic expression. I love the way the artist has created her nude form to gently extend over the border of the ring. The carving is very deeply 3-dimensional attesting to the fine quality of the work. The setting with the four gold beads at the corners is in the Etruscan Revival style.
Antique hand carved cameo rings are all the rage today and to find them in Coral and of a female nude is extremely rare.
The top of the ring is 16mm (5/8 inch) by 11mm.
The ring is currently a small size 3 1/4 US (F 1/2 UK). The clean lines of the band and the size of the cameo mean that it can be very easily resized if desired.
The ring is 14 Karat Gold.
