Burmese sapphire and diamond ring, early 20th century. Myanmar (formerly Burma), is most famous as a source of the world’s finest rubies and jadeite, but its sapphires are also of extraordinary quality, and command among the highest prices for sapphires per carat. This ring is set with a beautiful oval sapphire displaying the rich, saturated blue that makes stones of this origin so treasured. The stone’s quality speaks for itself and is simply complemented by antique cushion-shaped diamonds in millegrain-bordered shoulders – a beautiful and very wearable setting for a sapphire of such rarity. Place Of Origin England Stone Type Sapphire: Accompanied by GCS report no. 81281-34, stating that the central sapphire weighing approximately 2.20 carats is of Burmese (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heat treatment.
