Art Deco Swedish 5.10 Carat Natural Ceylon Sapphire and Diamond Ring

About the Item

A truly spectacular sapphire and diamond ring from the Art Deco (ca1925) era! This Swedish-made piece is crafted in platinum and adorns an approximately 5.10ct Ceylon sapphire at the center of a sparkling diamond border. The stunning multi-prong set stone is of Sri Lankan origin, exhibiting an incredible brilliance and rich blue color that is entirely natural with no indications of heat treatment. A border of sixteen old Mine Cut diamonds surrounds the center stone, weighing approximately 2.35ctw combined and exhibiting H-I range color and SI1-SI2 range clarity. The sparkling array of diamonds form a subtle scalloped border, and adorning each split-shank shoulder is an elegant cutout design. The graduated band wraps around the back, and stamped inside of the shank are several hallmarks including the Swedish triple crown, "SM" maker's mark, and a "P" platinum purity mark. The ring was appraised by an independent and accredited GIA-certified Gemologist in March 2017, and has a stated retail replacement value of $30,000.00. A magnificent ring, it would look incredible worn on special occasions, and could make an exquisite gemstone engagement piece! The ring has a finger size 6.75, but could be easily be resized. The sapphire and diamond centerpiece measures about 5/8" tall, and about 1/2" wide, and rests slightly more than 1/4" above the finger when worn. The graduating band measures approximately 1mm wide at the back. The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting. The sapphire and diamonds are all intact and securely set. The sapphire exhibits a few minor naturally occurring inclusions, however, none of which take away from the overall beauty of the ring.
