Art Deco Emerald Ruby Diamond Egyptian Revival Ring

About the Item

During the 19th century, the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced and brought on what is referred to as "archaeological revival jewelry," or Egyptian revival jewelry. The initial Egyptian Revival period flourished from the 1820s and was inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery, such as the scarab beetle, sphinxes, pharaohs and hieroglyphics. This wonderful ring is a fabulous example of Egyptian revival jewelry from the Art Deco (circa 1920) era! Made of 18kt yellow gold, the ring has a spectacular multi-stone design and depicts the face of an Egyptian pharaoh. At the center of the ring is the three dimensional face, which is surrounded by an elaborate headdress. Both the headdress and the collar of the figure are encrusted with sparkling bead set diamonds, while a single emerald stone rests in the center of the forehead. Luscious ruby stones represent the figure's large statement earrings and four additional rubies accent the sides of the headdress. The band and shoulders of the ring are formed by an open wirework design in yellow gold, further enhancing the artistic beauty of the ring. Stamped on the inside of the band is "750" along with a maker's mark, which we think is Austrian however we cannot identify. This magnificent piece has incredible detail and craftsmanship in the Egyptian revival style. It would be perfect for any collector and would certainly make a very impressive addition to any jewelry collection! The ring has a large finger size of 8, but could be re-sized. The pharaoh centerpiece measures 5/8" tall and approximately 1/2" wide.

Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or stones, all of which are intact.
