Art Nouveau Jadeite Jade Ring Certified Untreated
About the Item
A plump oval double cabochon of bright apple green jadeite has been artfully set into a beautifully hand-fabricated 14K rose gold ring from just after the turn of the century (circa 1910). The detailing on this ring is sublime, and the jade retains its pre-industrial revolution polish. Prior to the 1950s, jade was polished without the use of electricity or modern polishing compounds and the polish is different than it is today. This stone is luminous, highly translucent and features a soft, polish that generates almost no reflections; it's all just glow.
The double cabochon of natural Burmese jadeite jade measures 17.11mm x 10.01mm x 6.74mm and the overall face of the ring measures 19.81mm north to south and 19.38mm west to east as measured from the widest point of the shoulders. It rises 7.52mm from the surface of the finger but because the smooth stone is bezel-set and there are no prongs, this ring won't snag on sweaters or get caught on the hem of your pocket.
The ring has clearly been cherished because it is in excellent condition. The fine engraving work on both shoulders is still crisp and the ring shows little signs of wear.
This magnificent and rare ring is currently a size 8 and can be resized by your local jeweler. It ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the jade is untreated jadeite from Burma (Myanmar).
