14 Karat American Art Nouveau Ring with Diamonds and Semi Precious Stones
About the Item
Circa 1900 colorful 14K American Art Nouveau ring with small diamond accent stones, and peridot, opal, garnet, amethyst, and aqua stones encircling the larger freshwater pearl at the center. The complimentary gemstones, graceful gold metal flourishes, and stylized marquis shape all contribute to this artfully designed ring. The Art Nouveau movement endeavored to enable artists and craftsman freedom from historicist elements (symmetry, neoclassicism) and to create a completely new naturalistic design. Semi precious stones were preferred to precious gemstones, as were silver metals; but as with everything, there were exceptions. The semi precious gemstones in our ring are deftly set inside a gold border. The exceptionally long ring face stretches nearly knuckle to knuckle. The ring is just under 1.5 inches long and is a size 7 ½.
