Byzantine Silver and Niello Guilloche Ring, circa 12th-14th Century AD

About the Item

Byzantine silver and niello ring. A heavy solid ring, fitted to centre with a raised rounded oblong bezel featuring two niello opposed advancing lions grasping a processional cross, bordered by undulating pattern, flanked either side by broad shoulders with niello quartefoil motifs which raise to two oval plaques to either side decorated with niello double-headed eagle, leading down to a solid shank with niello roped detail. Tested silver, approximately 76 grams in weight, circa 12th-14th century AD, accompanied by Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence analysis report stating the composition of the metal. Please note shipping to the United States of America requires the purchaser to fill out a CBP 5106 customs form before the item is shipped. This form is a legal requirement for any item over $2,000 which is being imported into the United States. One of the details the form requests is the purchaser’s social security number or importer’s number.
