19th Century Gold and Onyx Cameo Portrait of the Emperor Claudius Ring
About the Item
Finely sculpted in two layers, white on brown, the Emperor depicted in profile to the right, a laurel wreath in his wavy hair, the ties fluttering behind, his hair arranged in rows of characteristic opposing comma-shaped locks, with a high forehead, articulated eyes, a prominent nose, and a small rounded chin, the thin lips slightly downturned at the corners; mounted in a heavy gold frame in the 19th century.
