Lavender Jade Men's Ring in Rose Gold Midcentury

About the Item

This Mid-Century men's ring was created in rosy red gold and showcases a beautiful lavender jadeite jade cabochon. The jade is a natural and untreated double cabochon with a beautiful translucency. There's a tiny sprig of green near one of the edges. Lavender jade is very rare. It is often opaque, so a lavender jade cabochon with good translucency is something worthy of attention. Lavender jade rings for men are exceptionally hard to come by and the vast majority are treated —either dyed or polymer-impregnated or both— so this is truly an exceptionally rare and beautiful ring. It was created in or around the 1960s. It bears a maker's mark I am unfamiliar with as well as a metal purity stamp for what I believed at first to be 10K but the ring tests higher so it's quite possible the horizontal bar of the "5" just didn't make an impression in the gold. 10k or 15K, the news here is the 14.55mm x 11.7mm double cabochon of rare lavender jade. And using coppery rose gold was a brilliant choice because it creates a kind of electrifying combination with the lavender. In fact, achieving just the right coppery-red color may have required the use of sub-18K gold. A master goldsmith created this ring and they used a very fine and very rare gemstone. The last image shows the ring in dim natural light. This is one jade ring I would keep for myself and wear, quite frankly. But when I opened this store on 1stdibs in order to release my private collection back out into the world, I told myself: you don't get to keep anything. Currently a size 11, this ring could be resized by your local jeweler. Ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the lavender jadeite is from Burma and untreated.
