Swedish Art Deco Sterling Silver Canister or Humidor by Erik Fleming for Borgila

About the Item

A fine antique humidor or canister. In sterling silver. Designed by Erik Fleming for Borgila in the 1940's. With a stepped foot, faceted body, loop twin handles to the sides, and a tightly sealed confrming lid with an Art Deco finial. The interior is wood lined and has a secondary tray in sterling silver for lifting the cigars. Simply a masterful expression of Art Deco design! Date: 1940s Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is some light edge wear, a few noticeable light scratches throughout, and a split in the interior wood liner (from normal checking or shrinkage). Otherwise, there are other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Engraved: With a dedication to the base that reads "Christer C. Skriver 2/17/1949 Fran Automobilindustrikommittkien. Maker: Erik Fleming for Borgila Marks: Marked to the base with Borgila / Swedish hallmarks (three crowns, a capital S, a crowned woman, and P8) / Sterling. Measurements: Height: ca. 8 3/8 in.
