Georg Jensen, Sterling Silver Comport by Johan Rohde

About the Item

This rather beautiful sterling silver comport was made by Georg Jensen in a design by the famed craftsman Johan Rohde. The piece was first designed between 1912 and 1915, however this example has post 1945 Georg Jensen hallmarks. Johan Rohde (1856-1935) was a famed Danish painter and designer who created some of the most famous Georg Jensen designs to exist such as the 'Acorn' flatware and 'Cosmos' tea and coffee service. The footed bowl or comport features a stepped oval base which sits below a round bowl that is supported by stylised leaves and berries. Often referred to as simply '#6' the design is completely hand crafted and shows the mastery of skill required to work as a Jensen silversmith. In lovely condition with some small silver burns the piece is ready for placement in a table setting or on a sideboard.
