William Spratling Set of 3 Graduated Sterling Silver Bowls

About the Item

Set of three graduated bowls by silver master, William Spratling. Each bowl has three handles and a linear scored design between the handles. The smallest of the bowls has an interior diameter of 5 3/4". It is 2 1/2" in height. The maker's mark dates it to the period between 1933 and 1939. The middle size bowl is 7 7/8" in interior diameter with a height of 3 1/4". The maker's mark dates between 1940 and 1946. The largest is 10 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches tall. Maker's mark dates between 1940 and 1946. All are in excellent condition. The exteriors are smooth with hand hammer marks intentionally showing on the insides. Rarely does one find a graduated set of these exquisite bowls. William Spratling was the father of the Mexican modern design movement. His is the subject of many books and his work is in the collections of numerous museums.
