An extremely fine set of 12 service plates or chargers. By Jocelyn Burton in sterling silver. Each with an embossed silver nautilus to the center surrounded by a gold wash, a motif of apparent significance for Burton. Each marked to the base with English hallmarks for Jocelyn Burton / Sterling / London / 1978. Jocelyn Burton was an enormously important English female silversmith and goldsmith. She executed numerous commissions to the Queen and was given the high honor of making the first strike on the first English piece of platinum in the London Assay Office in 1973. She had a storied career and was recognized with awards and accolades for her excellent work for roughly four decades. Simply an astounding set of top-level silver chargers from one of England's most renowned 20th century silversmiths! Date: Late 20th Century Overall Condition: They are in overall very good, as-pictured, professionally polished condition with some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
