This magnificent Triple Cased Verge Fuzee Pocket Watch was produced by HARRY POTTER, a premier London watchmaker in the year 1791. Harry Potter Sr. was a master watchmaker working in London between 1775–1803.
He died in 1813. Located in Cripplegate, number 5 Well Street, Potter was renowned for his complex movements and finely finished cases. The impressive repousse case reveals riders on camels and knights. The case was likely finished in his own shop by Maweis, also a renowned jeweler of the time.
A similar example, in poorer condition was bequeathed to the Metropolitan Museum by Laura Frances Hearn in 1917. Laura was an avid art and watch collector. When she died her substantial watch collection was given to the museum. There are also examples of Potter's watches in the British Museum.
The outer, Chagreen case has been cosmetically restored, however the two gold inner cases are in excellent condition. Most impressively is the enamel dial, which is in very good condition. Remarkably, this watch still has its original hands.
The watch has both its original crystals. The dial side crystal done as a Bulls Eye is original. It is revealed in some of the front shots diffusing the light making it appear that the name is broken into section, it is not, this is just a result of the photography. Rest assured though the name is clear and pristine.
The watch still runs and keeps time for its period.

Yellow Gold CIRCA / YEAR: 1920 DIMENSIONS / SIZE: 43mm Diameter MOVEMENT / CALIBER: Manual Winding / 17 Jewels / Caliber Ultra Thin DIAL / HANDS: Original Silvered by Stern Freres Silvered with Kiln Fired Enamel Printing / Blued Steel Hands WARRANTY: 18 months on the movement LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT This is, The Worlds Thinnest Watch. Patek Philippe produced this watch in 1920. They achieved the ultimate in watch making history by setting the Roller Jewel into the Balance Wheel Arms. This had never been done before. Not even Cartier produced a thinner watch than this one. Additionally, this watch has the ultimate in dials as well. The dial was produced for Patek Philippe by Stern Freres. Stern was renowned in Switzerland, as well as world wide as the finest dial house of all time. In fact Stern, in the early 1930's, purchased the bankrupt house of Patek Philippe and they still own Patek today. The dial is done in Sterling Silver and the printing is engraved out and filled with enamel, fired in a furnace at 1500 degrees Fahrenheit, polished, fired again and finally polished for the last time. This work is no longer done as it was to expensive and time consuming. The hands are also of the finest workmanship and these are the original hands and done in Blued Steel. This is done by heating the steel up to 640 degrees Fahrenheit and quickly quenching the hands. Lastly, you may be able to see that the case work on this watch features a remarkable detail. It has what is called the "hidden hinge." When the case is closed you cannot see the hinge. Only the worlds finest jewelers know how to make the "hidden hinge." This watch comes with what appears to be the original period 18Kt. and enamel inlayed chain. The chain is entirely hand constructed. This is the finest example of a Patek Philippe Pocket Watch...Category

Its origin is unknown. Verge escapements were used from the late 13th century until the mid 19th century in clocks and pocketwatches. The name verge comes from the Latin virga, meaning stick or rod.[1] Its invention is important in the history of technology, because it made possible the development of all-mechanical clocks.
