For a quote please contact us. ** Condition: The item is in fair pre-owned condition and shows overall wear or patina relative to its age. The Tudor Submariner has followed the footsteps of the Rolex Submariner since its creation. It is just as hard wearing and attractive, if somewhat less complex on the inside. Tudor Submariners started back in 1959 with the references 7922 featuring a guardless crown and the 7928 looking more like the case shape seen above. Both of these models still showcased the old Tudor rose on the dial and the familiar Rolex Mercedes hands. While Rolex always used their own movements, these Tudors had modified calibres from Parmigiani Fleurier to begin with, and then modified ETA movements. Jumping forward a decade to 1969 the Snowflake was launched, named after its bold, square hour markers and matching hands. These tritium-filled hands and applied squares for the hours stood out and distinguished the piece from both of its predecessors and its famous older cousin, the Rolex Submariner. Tudor have re-released their vintage-style submariners with great success in the form of the Tudor Black Bay in 2012 with a range of colours, styles and even case materials such as bronze and black PVD coated. The first Tudor Black Bays in 2012 housed a modified automatic ETA movement like the Snowflakes, but have recently transitioned to an in-house Tudor movement made specially for the series. This Tudor Submariner Snowflake with serial number dating from 1976 is an early version of this series, also containing a modified ETA calibre. These references 9411/0s were released in 1975 alongside the reference 9401/0, which was the version without the date function. This reference 9411/0 with a blue dial (black dial options were available at the time too) is in great condition. It has hardly any wear to the case other than some light dents on the case back. The case back is engraved as per most Rolex and Tudor Subs of the time “Rolex Geneva Original Oyster Case”. The bracelet and case edges are still sharp considering its age but it has been well looked after. The bezel is one of the more attractive features, still with its rich blue colouring and some patina around the edges of the insert.
