Early 20th Century
Mini watches have graced some fabulous wrists over the years- Queen Elizabeth II wore one for her coronation, Princess Diana was often photographed with a beautiful diamond one and a number of Hollywood celebrities have chosen a mini for their red carpet appearances. These minute jewels were designed as beautiful bracelets so that the wearer could discretely check the time. They required tiny, precise mechanisms and were revolutionary for their time. As with all of the best classics, the mini watch is on trend today- Hermes offers the Faubourg Polka, Graff- Tilda's Bow, Dior-La D De Dior Mini Cocotte, Harry Winston- Mini Twist, Chaumet- Torsade de Chaumet, Van Cleef & Arpels- Perlee, to name just a few.
Carl Bucherer opened his first specialist watch and jewelry store in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1888. In 1924, the firm added the then little known Rolex brand to their offerings. The partnership proved to be an important one and continues to this day. Bucherer is the largest watch and jewelry retailer in Europe offering collections designed in their in-house attelier and individually crafted pieces.
