PABLO PICASSO Spanish, 1881 - 1973 La petite bacchanale (B. 1020; Ba. 1250) signed in pencil "Picasso" (lower left) numbered in pencil "1/50" (lower right) linocut in colors on Arches B. 8-5/8 x 10-3/8 inches (22 x 26.5 cm.) S. 17-7/8 x 24-5/8 inches (45 x 62.7 cm.) framed: 33 x 36-1/2 inches (83 x 93 cm.) Conceived in 1959-1961 PROVENANCE Private Collection, Paris Pablo Picasso became passionate about graphic work, which he cultivated in all its possibilities throughout his life, granting it intrinsic value. As a mode of expression independent of painting, sculpture or drawing, approaching the engraving plate, stone or linoleum with a direct vision. Thanks to his father, Picasso had a careful training during his childhood and adolescence, always within the classical canons, which later knew how to innovate in an avant-garde way, using drawing and the different options of graphic work as a scope to experiment, analyze and recreate what he remembered, thanks to his wonderful and playful imagination.
