Salvador Dali Napoleonic troops passing through, 1975 Original etching Signed in pencil Limited to 100 copies (Here numbered 52) On Arches vellum 32.5 x 25 cm (c. 12.7 x 9.8 in) REFERENCES : - Catalog raisonne Field #34-2 - Catalog raisonne Michler & Lopsinger #28 INFORMATION : This engraving is part of the set of "Les chants de Maldoror". The copper plates were engraved by Dali in 1934 but only the first half of the edition had been published by Skira Publisher. In 1974, the second half of the edition was published by Pierre Argillet / Grafik Europa from the original plates reworked by Dali, and all the etching were signed by Dali under usher supervision. This is one of the artist's rarest and most sought-after series, presenting the first engravings made by Dali.
