Softness in Seattle
Heidi Caillier is a student of what’s happening in the world, from trending colors to current collectibles to the weather of the Pacific Northwest — particularly pertinent for an interior designer in the region, where a house can be enshrouded in moody hues for days. Her clients, a young family on Seattle’s Fox Island, wanted to up the interest of their new-construction home. Caillier had a plan. “The goal was to lean into our clients’ more modern sensibility,” she says, “but to warm it up and infuse the interiors with natural, organic elements.” In this primary bedroom, a BDDW armchair and an African rain drum table table face a custom Jean-Michel Frank–style sofa; the occasional tables are from Blend Interiors, and the dresser is by Egg Collective for DWR. “We incorporated touches of brass to bring an edge to the overall softness of the space,” Caillier says. “And the artwork feels like the perfect moody counterpart.”
“It’s extraordinarily important to incorporate layers, vintage pieces and antiques that feel as though they’ve been passed down over time.”
