Heidi Caillier Design

Moody Blues in San Francisco

All Photos by Haris Kenjar

For a showstopper kitchen in a San Francisco home, interior designer Heidi Caillier looked to English design — where color, texture and objects combine to elegant, comfortable effect — for inspiration. “I love homes that feel rooted in history and lived in,” says the Seattle-based designer. “This kitchen, although new, has depth and soul.” That soul is nourished through the deft combination of custom beadboard cabinetry, reclaimed-stone floors and moody navy-blue paint. The color contrasts dramatically with the room’s other elements, including the marble-topped farm table, the ladder-back rush stools and the vintage ruffled milk-glass pendant lights, which, Caillier says, “are quite lovely and can be difficult to find.” (She found these on 1stDibs.)
