The studio has forged a distinctive practice of expanding the boundaries between architecture and art with their integrated approach to design. In 2016, architects Kristen Becker and Jim Friesz came together with artist Saul Becker to form Mutuus Studio out of mutual appreciation for beautifully crafted design. They have distinguished themselves from traditional architectural practices by providing their clients with a cohesive experience and not separate the architecture from their interior or the interior from their objects. Every detail matters, and Mutuus Studio began creating custom lighting, hardware, furniture and specialty finishes exclusively for our clients. It became the studio’s mission to provide a more authentic and holistic experience of architecture and interiors for both themselves and their clients.

Their studio name, Mutuus (moo-tis) translates from Latin to mean mutual / exchange reinforcing their studio philosophy and mission that design is inherently collaborative and mutually beneficial. The trio came together to form Mutuus Studio out of mutual appreciation for beautifully crafted design and we seek to work with clients that share the same values of designing holistic environments.
