Jolanta Johnsson
Raindrops

2015

About the Item

Jolanta Johnsson, experienced Polish artist, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, PhD of fine arts, university teacher. She currently lives in Sweden. This is how she writes about this piece: "Raindrops are a symbol of life, serving as a precursor to the rejuvenation of nature. However, before the raindrops fall, we witness the formation of clouds. Initially, these clouds appear small, white, and fluffy, resembling the soft fur of lambs. Gradually, they grow larger and darker, indicating the imminent arrival of rain. It is from these clouds that the first drops descend, resembling individual bullets, leaving discernible wet footprints on the ground. Occasionally, a heavy rain cloud is content with a light drizzle, leaving behind a damp pattern on the earth before swiftly moving on. However, there are instances when the cloud halts its journey overhead. After a brief prelude of solitary drops, it unleashes a torrential downpour, drenching the surroundings with an intense and relentless rain. In this moment, nature receives the vital nourishment it requires - the water of life. I observed this scene during the summer season, when the anticipation of dark rain clouds becomes a familiar sight. As the warmth of the sun intensifies, the arrival of these clouds brings a sense of relief and anticipation, knowing that the much-needed rainfall is on its way."

Jolanta Johnsson, experienced Polish artist, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, PhD of fine arts, university teacher. She currently lives in Sweden. This is how she writes about the drawing: In my intimate drawings, I capture what is closest to me – the private moments that I would hardly want to reveal. And yet, I choose to share them with my audience. The motif of the odalisque, a reclining woman, has long been a popular subject in art. Throughout history, numerous artists have embraced this theme, and some of their paintings depicting reclining women have become iconic, shaping the course of art in their respective eras. Art historians have extensively written about the influence of these works. Notably, the odalisques created by the French painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, such as his renowned piece “La Grande Odalisque...

Jolanta Johnsson, experienced Polish artist, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, PhD of fine arts, university teacher. She currently lives in Sweden. This is how she writes about the drawing: "The sunset today is extraordinary. As the sun sets, its round disc descends towards the horizon to eventually disappear behind it completely. This is when it changes colors, which become more and more intense. This spectacle is always interesting, each time different. No two sunsets are the same. One day it was so beautiful that it inspired me to make this drawing. That day was today, so I titled it Sunset Today. It is a symbolic title. It acts as a kind of reminder – the sun will also be set today. Today is also the day to watch the sun wander over the horizon. Don’t miss it! When we are surrounded by trees, the horizon line is collapsed. As the sun sets, it hides in their branches. Then, for a moment, the trees look as if they are on fire embracing the fiery sun ball...

Song of Pink Warrior is a drawing realized by Iranian Painter and Poet Parimah Avani in 2023. China ink and acrylic on ivory-colored paper. Hand-signed and dated. Excellent conditions. Presented in a Solo exhibition of "Calligraphy of Bodies" in Luoghi Comuni Turin 2023. The artwork is expressively and poetically created, the well-applied dry and watery strokes represent gestural revolutionary figures in a minimalistic manner in a miniature style of composition. which makes this series unique: it is deeply behind the dynamic emotion of each gestural figure, four colors here have metaphorical features; pink as woman, yellow as hope, silvery as resistance, and red as blood. another aspect that stands out in this art is the vigorous and unbridled energy of brushstrokes. Her Series could be described as raw, spontaneous, and emotionally charged. Gestures are a powerful and thought-provoking commentary on social and political issues. The panoramic lines inspired by Persian calligraphy, here have an exclusive sense of narration harmoniously. The style of Persian calligraphy and knowledge of poetry let her make a visual poem in an expressionistic style, congruent with the poetic title, the use of space and maintaining an empty background and foreground intentionally have been made to emphasize the solitude and loneliness of gestural figures and at the same time connect to oriental calligraphy. Her artworks artwork has evident characteristics, firstly strongly inspired by Tachisme's “Abstraction lyrique" and artworks of Henri Michaux, and Hans Hurting secondly oriental Persian calligraphy of poems style is evident in her artworks, finally dynamic sensation of revolutionary art...
