2023
About the Item
Shades of Love was created by Tunde Bakare. Tunde created the painting with Oil, Fabric, and Collage on a primed canvas of 44W by 48H.
Shades of Love depicts the type of love that exists in the 21st century. Love is a peculiar thing, as many say, not that I know why they say this. There are many different definitions of love, depending on the person defining it. Just one definition of the word that has such a vast meaning simply cannot be penned down. Even though each of us has our own meaning, the general idea is common and is one many of us across the globe share. Love comes across in different forms, and it could be love for people, places, or even things. If you truly do love someone/something, they say you should express it. If you love someone let them know, maybe they love you too. Not that I don’t completely agree with this statement, but what if you tell them, and they happen to be bitter about it? What if they don’t love you back? What if they feel they have a certain power over you because you told them? What if they make fun? What if they hurt you because of what you said? What then? What are you supposed to do, forget that you ever told them, and move on with your life? Sure, you could do that but deep down, you will always remember, how much ever you try to forget. Love can destroy you, it can make you do things you never wanted to, it can break friendships/relationships, and it can stop you from doing a lot of things. You would always have this shade of love but never let this stop you from doing great things.

- Threads of ResilienceBy Bakare Abubakri-sideeq BabatundeLocated in Ibadan, Oyo"Threads of Resilience" is a captivating painting that portrays a black African woman sitting gracefully on a chair, her hand resting gently on the backrest. She wears a stunning Balenciaga dress adorned with intricate pieces of Ankara fabric around the neck and on the sleeves. The vibrant Ankara fabric adds a touch of cultural richness to the modern fashion. The inspiration behind this painting lies in the story of a young girl named Fatimah. Her adoration for the designer dress, so lovingly crafted with a fusion of styles, is palpable. However, fate took a cruel turn as the dress was stolen while hanging on a wire, where she had placed it to dry. Despite this misfortune, the painting captures the essence of Fatimah's resilience and unwavering spirit, showcasing her ability to embrace both the beauty of fashion and the challenges of life. "Threads of Resilience" serves as a tribute to the strength and grace that can emerge from even the most trying circumstances. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria.
