This oil and mixed media abstract painting on wood is an excellent combination of geometric and fauvist styles. On a turquoise background, the artist has used magenta, ochre, white, and other colors to achieve a dynamic and playful interaction of shapes. This piece could be framed if so desired, but it is perfectly ready to hang as it is. The artist has signed the piece in the back.
Miguel Martinez-Riddle is a painter and installation artist, born in Brooklyn of Puerto Rican parentage. Martinez-Riddle is a sophisticated artist who has taught painting, design, and art history; he is very knowledgeable about current issues in art. He holds an MFA in painting from Hunter College, and maintains a studio in the Catskills.
