This is part of a group Callner named "Intuitive Series," completed a year before his death in 2007. This stunning painting is done in bold colors, greens, yellows, oranges, and geometric patterns. The fierceness and boldness of the work belies the fragile state in which the artist lived.
Richard Callner is a painter who at various times was focused on myth, abstraction, interior landscape, and geometry. He led the Art Department at University at Albany, SUNY, thus influencing scores of artists who’ve gone on to public recognition. Callner died in 2007, but his work remains in public and private collections from Israel to the United States.
